I've often heard children say, "There's nothing to do today". I beg to differ. I'd like to inspire you to do something. Anything. Read. Bake. Hike. Fish. Plant. Sail. Climb. Play. Reach. Move. Laugh. Dream; and take time to sit with me on The Old Granite Step.

Visit the Spring Bulb Show at Smith College!

With a late blizzard threatening the East Coast, what could

be more inviting than a flower show?  If you can visit the Smith College Spring Bulb Show, it's well worth the visit.
The show runs through March 19th.  You can visit daily from 10 - 4pm but on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the show is open until 8pm.  A $5 donation is suggested.

If you haven't been to the Botanic Garden of Smith College, you will be delighted with this treasure.
The theme for this year's show is Fields of Flowers.  Artist Mima Nixon traveled to the Netherlands in order to illustrate the book Dutch Bulbs and Gardens (1909).  These paintings are the inspiration for this year's show.
Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy...

Forsythia has been used to enhance the display.

Smaller blossoms that are not bulbs are also used.

I would love to have this in my garden!
My favorite.

Sublime.

We took a detour to some of the other greenhouses while we were there.

Although not a bulb, it was a favorite.

Another detour....

Although crisp outside, the blue sky highlighted the colors indoors.

Don't miss the "After the Show Bulb Sale".
Members only:  March 25th, 9am to noon
General Public:  March 25th, noon - 3pm, March 26th 9 - 3pm
